Coronavirus Update

My Brothers & Sisters in Christ,

Throughout the History of Mankind, in particular during the Old Testament, God, at times, had chosen to discipline His children; to help them find their knees if you will. Often times through famine, wars or plagues. We saw this play out with Moses in the desert, Joseph & his brothers, as well as the Assyrian & Babylonian overtaking of Israel’s 12 tribes. Today, we are faced with a current day plague, or at the very least an anxiety filled reaction to such. And as such, there is no greater role model for us to emulate, during these penitential times, than Mother Teresa. She taught us that during ‘Dark times’, we need to carry our cross - without complaining! That the sufferings we must endure by not being able to attend the Mass of our choosing, obtain the Sacraments when we prefer, or have immediate access to Christ – is nothing short of, Redemptive Suffering.  This is the time for us to show that we are no longer Neutral… that we are Directional in our efforts to grow closer to Christ… to be the next Simon of Cyrene and forever have our names in the Book of Life – Persevere!

There are going to be times in our lives when we may experience some bit of doubt, like now!  Yet her response was directional, committed and never neutral…. “Lord, I believe, help my unbelief”!

Sunday Mass will be at 9am.

Please attend our Sunday Mass by joining us her on the Website or on our facebook page at Saint Helena Church Amite, La.

**The Sunday Mass obligation continues to be dispensed for all Catholics as long as this threat persists.

ALL YOUTH NIGHTS HAVE BEEN CANCELED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Parents and Youth,

We have enjoyed getting to know our youth members and are so excited to see what the future holds for our youth group! We have two youth groups; Alpha being 6th – 8th grade and Omega being 9th – 12th grade. Both youth groups will meet every week in the Hall. We will eat dinner together as one big youth group and then separate into Alpha and Omega for our spiritual time. This change allows both age groups to meet every week but also have their small group spiritual time every week as well.

If a parent is interested in providing dinner for a youth night, please contact Alexis to sign up for a week. Feel free to sign up at a youth night, or text or call Alexis on her cell phone at 985-351-4639.

Our youth team at St. Helena includes Alexis Verberne, Donna Ponson, and Laura Faust. We use the Remind App to communicate with our youth and parents, if you are not receiving our messages please let us know so we can get your number and add you to our messaging system so that we can keep you up to date on any youth events, cancellations, etc. If you have any questions do not hesitate to call Alexis at 985-351-4639.
